The School Playground

Except when it is actually raining or extremely cold, the children will play outside at break times so adequate clothing is essential. The children need fresh air to enable them to work at their best throughout the day and only in exceptional circumstances will they be allowed to stay in at playtimes.

There is a large playing field for the children to use during the Summer months and in the warm weather. There is also a large seating area where children can sit with their friends as an alternative to playing on the field or playground.

In addition, there are playtime toys, provided mainly by Tesco’s and Sainsbury’s voucher schemes, for the children to enjoy.

A very tough stance is taken by the school staff against bullying or any acts of unkindness. Furthermore, children are told that they must never retaliate if anyone attempts to hurt them as that is how fights begin and problems escalate. They are told to inform the staff on duty [teacher or midday supervisor] who will immediately take control of the situation.

Just occasionally a child will say “My Dad says I have to fight back”. I have to say such a response will not be tolerated and parents have to accept that the rules we insist upon are in the best interests of all pupils.
